2-(4-tert-butylphenoxy) cyclohexanol is synthesized from p-tert-butylphenol and epoxycyclohexane.
Add 711g of p-tert-butylphenol and 10.6g of solid catalyst to a 2000mL three-mouth bottle, install an electric stirrer, a thermometer, a dropping funnel and a reflux condenser, raise the temperature, start stirring after the material is melted, slowly add an appropriate amount of epoxy cyclohexane when the temperature rises to 150 ℃, and reflux for 30min after adding. After the reaction is completed, cool down, add 500mL toluene, and discharge. Sample analysis of the product content, the yield is 95% ~ 98%.
The solvent method can also be used to make the reaction proceed at a lower temperature, which is beneficial to improve the conversion rate of p-tert-butyl phenol. For example, p-tert-butylphenol, epoxy cyclohexane, toluene and catalyst are added at the same time, stirred at 105~110 ℃ for 12h, heated and washed with water for 3 times, and excessive epoxy cyclohexane and toluene are removed in vacuum to obtain a product with 98.2% content and 96.5% yield.
